Nearby towing corporation owners met using the Chattanooga Beer and Wrecker Board this morning about current operate to set fees for towing providers.
Attorney Jesse Farr 1st spoke towards the board, describing differences in voluntary and nonconsensual towing support.
“It is a whole lot different from calling somebody to pick up your auto … and to possess somebody can come and pick and choose up a nonconsensual tow in overtime several hours and have got to have at the very least two or three (men and women) to present security,” Mr. Farr mentioned as a representative of S&H Towing.
Members of the board began research on suggesting regulations for towing fees and procedures towards city council in their February meeting.
“You say the fee is reasonable but our concern is the fact that there is no set fee,” said board member Kathy Jones. Pointing to complaints that fees range from $125 to $250 with some instances of $400 charges.
“I don’t think we’re trying to cut anybody off at the knees, we’re just trying to find a happy medium where to allow the average Joe citizen to afford to get their car back,” she explained.
The board will consider recommendations for procedure and fee regulation towards city council in its next meeting on March 18.
